WILLOW MOON FARM INTERNSHIPS
2012

Please note:  Original application deadline extended to February 15th.

We will offer two internships for 2012.

The first internship will begin on March 1st and end around May 30th. This is the height of our kidding season and the focus will be on assisting with various herd management activities focused on the care and feeding of our new kids from birthing through their first weeks of life, adult goat care, milking and cheese making.

The second internship will begin June 1st and end around September 30th. During this time, we will be focused on milking, cheese making and sales, spring clipping/grooming, pasture rotation, and assisting with additional various herd management duties.

Both internships include helping customers in the farm store, packaging products, assisting with marketing of products, cleaning, repairs and maintenance, garden preparation, weeding and harvesting.

In exchange for your 40 hours a week, we can provide a room with a semi private bath in the main house or, if you prefer more privacy and enjoy the outdoors,  you are welcome to camp on farm property with access to indoor bathroom and shower. You’ll also have fresh goats milk, cheese, vegetables and modest meals plus a small weekly stipend. Additionally, we‘ll teach you what we can and try to give you a learning experience that you will find both useful and pleasant. Our days are physically demanding but the work is enjoyable and the goats provide lots of entertainment as well as a bit of “goat zen”.

Minimum Qualifications: Must have some experience with animals and experience with farm animals and goats in particular is a big advantage (obviously) You must take work direction and feedback, be able to work on your own and with minimal direction once you’ve been taught how to do a task. You must bring a willingness to learn, a positive outlook and an ability to do fairly difficult physical labor. You must be strong enough to handle 40 -50 pound bales of hay, pine shavings and bags of grain. You also need to be able to run fast and catch a goat (just kidding). A good sense of humor is a definite requirement. Please be a morning person.

We’re located just outside of Montpelier, VT…a wonderful community with great people, lots going on and absolutely beautiful surroundings.

Deadline for applying for either of the internships is December 31st 2011 .

Please submit a letter of interest, resume, and a minimum of two work references to:
